Job Overview:
This assignment is for a Senior Design Engineer of the Civil discipline to perform duties consistent with the preparation and approval of Design Documentation in support of the authorization of Civil Plant Modifications associated with the Rapid Delivery System Project for Darlington Nuclear Generating Station.
Activities include but are not limited to all activities associated with preparation and verification of Design EC package following our client’s procedures such as N-PROC-MP-0090 and the associated guide.
Role includes development, preparation and verification of design/structural calculations as well as analysis of existing structures to support project execution.
Activities also include installation and commissioning support and as well support during Available for Service activities.
- Provide civil design engineer services for civil/structural nuclear power plant modifications and maintenance & inspection tooling development modification projects.
- Prepare, review, verify, accept, and process all design deliverables including deliverables associated with procurement, installation, commissioning, available for service (AFS) and close out activities.
- Prepare engineering design calculations for structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete and masonry and prepare design documents and compile engineering packages.
- Provide design engineer services and as well during oversight to DSP if required, to deliver high quality design deliverables for plant modifications & tooling projects for the successful installation, commissioning and AFS by following our client’s Engineering Change Control (ECC) process which includes, but is not limited to the following:

- Ensure that the deliverables are optimal (without exaggerated and unnecessary requirements) for the industry standards yielding to safe and cost-effective product.
- Allow for early detection of potential issues so that corrective measures are taken at the appropriate time.
- Ensure approved design is constructible, operable, and maintainable safely without any adverse impact on plant’s design basis.
- Ensure stakeholders expectations are satisfactorily met.
- Duties associated with performing civil design modification packages, including design engineer prepared and verified modification packages for nuclear power plant site modifications and as well tooling related projects.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary Education in Civil Engineering is a must, University Degree in Civil Engineering, Preferred.
- Minimum 1O years of experience as a senior Design Engineer in civil discipline.
- Well versed with the our client’s Engineering Change Control Procedure N-PROC-MP0090 associated guide N-GUID-00700-10000.
- Must be qualified to Qualification (QUAL) 33685-Design Engineer as well related QA program.
- Must have Professional Engineering Ontario (PEO) Designation.
- Nuclear Security Clearance is a must.
- Proven track record in civil design and structural analysis, including application to nuclear plants is preferred.
- In depth knowledge and experience of use of related/appropriate codes and standards, as applied to nuclear plant and conventional plants.
- Experience in the use of civil engineering codes and standards, as applied to nuclear plant and conventional plants such as CSA N287, CSA N289 and CSA N291 and other codes and standards such as NBCC and S16 and A23.
