Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Leader with a mature understanding of our client’s Nuclear Project Management, outage management, and work control processes. Also, someone who has experience collaborating with various stakeholders, including Project Controls, Cost & Schedule Analysts, Engineering, and Supply Chain. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading complex projects and will be adept at navigating its unique processes and requirements.

In this role, you will drive high-impact Pickering Refurbishment Operations and Maintenance Projects to completion while mentoring and supporting junior project management staff. You will help them develop the technical knowledge and familiarity with our client’s processes necessary for success. Your leadership will be a critical asset to the team, fostering collaboration and contributing to a high-performing project management team that ensures all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. Additionally, the candidate should have experience overseeing and managing budgets, schedule performance, and the ability to manage station resources, ensuring the successful execution of projects, starting with Segment 0.

Position Overview:

  • Lead all stages of Pickering Refurbishment Project Management from initiation to closeout.
  • Apply Project Management governance and approved processes for phase-gating, integration, scope, schedule, cost, change control, estimating, communications, reporting, and risk management.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee project objectives and deliverables within safety, quality, budget, and schedule targets.
  • Contribute and lead to items and discussion on project background information, scope and constructability reviews, Business Case Submissions and Project Gate submissions.
  • Prepare and coordinate project documentation, estimates, schedules, and risk management plans.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders for project communications, approvals, and permits.
  • Arrange and lead project meetings and coordination among Engineering, Vendor Partners, Part Suppliers, Construction, Maintenance and Operations.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on cost and schedule, managing variances and changes.
  • Lead cross-functional teams and ensure team members have clearly defined roles and project requirements are addressed and clearly outlined.
  • Coordinate project turnover documentation and resolve outstanding deficiencies.
  • Mentor Junior Project Leaders on our client’s Project Management and Station processes.
  • Maintain project compliance within corporate procedures and processes adherence

Qualifications

  • 8-10+ years of project management experience, with increasing complexity and large scale project experience.
  • Experience with developing project requirements and plans.
  • Preparing cost estimates of various classes and complexities.
  • Participating in request for proposal (RFP) and contract bidding and award processes.
  • Lead projects during the execution phase with proper documentation of Lessons Learned throughout execution phase.
  • Familiar with handling project closeout
  • Managing conflicting priorities of scope, schedule, cost, and quality.
  • Familiarity with equipment and processes in generating stations or similar heavy industries.
  • Solving problems and leading implementation with multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of cost accounting and forecasting in project management.
  • Understanding of commercial contracting methods and contract management.
  • Awareness of construction methods, codes, and standards.
  • Knowledge of our client’s QA programs and health and safety processes.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience in work protection programs.
  • Proven ability to facilitate and foster relationships among various internal and external groups.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.

Education:

  • A 4-year university degree in a relevant area such as Engineering.
  • Post-secondary courses in project management is an asset.
  • Courses in business economics related to project and asset management is considered an asset
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is an asset.
