Job Overview

JOB FUNCTION

  • Assist Supervisor and other staff in administering the organization, coordination and execution of assigned project(s) within multidiscipline project portfolios.
  • Provide technical support on matrix project execution teams Under direction of Supervisor or delegate, prepare and facilitate project documentation
  • Within the scope of accountability, ensure appropriate Project Management and Contract Management governance is followed.

JOB DUTIES

  • Assist Supervisor and senior staff in coordinating and managing defined stages of project execution within established governance.
  • Support the implementation of approved Project Management processes, including phase-gating, scope, schedule, cost, risk, and reporting.
  • Help oversee engineering, procurement, and construction to ensure project objectives are met within safety, quality, budget, and schedule targets.
  • Assist in preparing Business Case Submissions and coordinating relevant project information for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Liaise with field construction teams and operations to address design, schedule, and cost-related issues, providing reports and recommendations.
  • Support issue resolution to ensure project deliverables are achieved while managing scope, schedule, and cost changes as per established procedures.
  • Maintain communication with stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and contractors, facilitating meetings and ensuring project documentation is complete.
  • Conduct site visits to observe manufacturing, construction progress, and equipment installations, providing insights for application.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with corporate procedures related to budgeting, estimating, scheduling, and project administration.
  • Stay updated on technological advancements in project management, engineering, and construction, applying best practices where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Requires a knowledge of physics, engineering principles, mathematics and chemistry as related to industrial and power generation equipment.
  • Requires a knowledge of economics and business principles to provide project cost estimates and forecasts.
  • Requires a knowledge of project management principles, specifically the five (5) primary project phases (Identification, Initiation, Definition, Execution, Close-out).
  • Requires a good knowledge of English, both oral and in written form to effectively communicate with others and to prepare concise reports.
  • Requires this knowledge to organize, assist others in coordinating various phases of an assigned project in accordance with project management governance and the application of sound technical skills.
  • Requires bachelor’s degree (Science, Mathematics or Engineering) from university. Completion of postsecondary courses in project management or by having the equivalent level of education will be an asset.
  • Knowledge of our client’s ECC (Engineering Change Control) process will be an asset.
  • Prior experience as an MTL (Modification Team Lead) will be an asset.
  • Previous experience within nuclear industry will be an asset.
  • Requires experience in project management, KPI (Key Performance Index) metrics generation and tracking, cost estimation and full project lifecycle execution.
  • Assisting with the management of conflicting priorities of scope, schedule, cost and quality.
  • Experience with commercial contracting methods, contract management, construction methods, codes and standards, quality assurance and health and safety will be an asset.
  • Strong organizational and Problem-solving skills. Effectiveness as a team player to understand and work with various internal and external groups to facilitate objectives and ensure projects satisfy stakeholder requirements.
