Job Overview

This is a position in the Telecom department for a Project Support/Coordinator to support and coordinate project work.  The Telecom department manages the critical infrastructure for systems including Telephony, Radio Systems, Satellite systems and other communications systems.

This position is one that requires integration with many support groups, companies, labour groups and on-site personnel making inter-personal skills critical to the position.   This position is not a hands-on position, it is a position that requires high technical abilities, critical thinking abilities and excellent verbal and written communication skills.  It is expected that the candidate will be a team player, critical thinking, self-driven and will take the initiative to lead tasks from beginning to end.

  • Coordinate installations, configurations, testing and decommissioning activities, ensuring IT Change Control program adherence
  • Coordinate IT Vulnerability scans and remediation activities for all newly implemented servers and equipment
  • Work with IT Security to complete IT Security Forms and Checklists
  • Support the preparation, reviews, and approvals of project documentation – Project Charter, Project Management Plan, Business Case Summary, Infrastructure Business and System Requirements Document (IBSRD), Enterprise Architecture Document (EAD), User Acceptance Test (UAT) Plans and Reports.
  • Support keeping documentation and monitoring systems up-to-date as equipment is installed or removed from the Telephone System and our client’s Network
  • Support user migration activities to newly installed or configured equipment
  • Support the commissioning activities for new installations to be supported and maintained by our client
  • Support decommissioning activities for any equipment no longer required due to new project installations.
  • Lead on-site requirement gathering, installation, testing, migration and commissioning

Qualifications

  • University Degree or Technologist Diploma
  • Ability to be Nuclear site security cleared
  • Willingness to travel to sites such as Darlington Nuclear Generating Station, Pickering Nuclear Generating Station, Durham regional sites, Bruce Nuclear Generation Station, Niagara regional plants, and other Ontario locations
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Systems Integration Experience
  • On-site build and commissioning experience
  • Project scoping, estimating and scheduling experience
  • Experience in coordination of complicated tasks requiring multiple skillsets, departments or companies
  • Experience in coordinating tasks for Telephone Systems, Radio Systems, Satellite Systems, Network Architecture, Cyber Security is a plus
  • Experience in working on large projects is a plus
  • Experience working at Nuclear Generating Sites or other Power Generating Station is a plus
  • Experience in working with labour unions is a plus
