Job Overview

  • Provide guidance and advice to employees regarding benefit offerings, eligibility, and processes.
  • Respond to inquiries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.

Administration:

  • Oversee the day-to-day administration of benefit programs, including enrollment, changes, terminations, and retirements.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and timely processing of transactions.

Data Management:

  • Maintain and update databases with member information, including data from third-party plan administrators.
  • Ensure data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Perform benefit membership and adjudication data reconciliation, analysis and review

Calculations:

  • Perform pension-related calculations, such as service credits, retirement estimates, and benefit entitlements.
  • Communicate results clearly to members

Customer Service:

  • Act as a primary point of contact for members and vendors, offering excellent customer service and building positive relationships

Education & Communication:

  • Educate members on plan features, administrative processes, and changes to programs.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations or written materials as needed.

Compliance:

  • Ensure all benefits programs comply with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist with audits and reporting as required.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to streamline administrative processes and improve the member experience

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in benefits administration or consulting
  • Strong understanding of benefits programs, including regulatory requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and database management
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in reviewing and validating member enrollment data
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Experience supporting benefit audits and reporting processes
  • Experience working with third-party vendors and service providers is an asset
