We are currently requesting resumes for the following position:  Electrical Design Engineer

Duration: 12 months

Hours of work:  40+ hours per week (Please only apply if you are able to support the project work)

Location: Darlington Energy Complex (Hybrid, 2 days remote)

 

Job Overview

  • Work as a Design team Lead (DTL) or Electrical Design Engineer (DE) providing in house design and oversight for modification work as required for refurbishment project.
  • Work will include, but not limited to:
  • Prepare, review, and verify Electrical and Instrumentation design ECs and related design documents. The work will include Engineering Change Control (ECC) deliverables including consultation on technical matters along with calculations, reports, analysis and memos.
  • Providing design oversight of design process activities related to assigned project
  • Providing installation, commissioning and close-out support for assigned project
  • Ensuring completion of project tracked items
  • Ensuring vendor scope and documentation is consistent with OPG needs
  • Reviewing updated documents; facilitating inputs and reviews by OPG stakeholders

 

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of Design experience required, preferably with OPG or Nuclear Industry.
  • Experience with use of industry codes and standards. Knowledge of Canadian Electrical codes and IEEE standards would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of OPG’s ECC Process (Engineering Change Control) and OPG Design Engineer Qualification would be an asset.
  • Experience in electrical design mainly switchgear, motor control centers and power distribution systems are highly valuable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and must be comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations.
  • Experience and ability as a team player to understand and manage the interrelationships of various internal and external groups to facilitate objectives and ensure projects satisfy stakeholder requirements.
  • Familiar with safety standards and regulations and able to ensure that their designs comply with all electrical codes and regulations.
  • Strong in understanding, executing and following governance and procedures with a questioning and analytical attitude/approach under minimum required supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible hybrid office environment.
