Job Overview
- Designing, troubleshooting, problem solving, system/project support and mentorship in Digital Control Computer and related Real Time Process Computing hardware and/or software, working on individualized tasks and in a team environment.
- Digital Control Computing and related Software activities in the subject areas of: Software requirements definition, software programming using both high and low level languages, ladder logic, automated script development, test case development and execution, functional analysis, high-reliability and high-performance real time algorithm design, software classification and categorization, software quality assurance, system troubleshooting support, and system performance optimization and monitoring.
- Maintain and/or update operating and other specified department/divisional procedures.
- May be required to gather and collate data for use in department budget preparation and to monitor variances to annual budget and submit to Supervisor for reporting purposes.
- On a periodic basis, supervise staff involved in the above activities by assigning and checking work and as required give instructions and direction.
- Prepare or help prepare specifications, for requisitions to purchase material, services and equipment.
- Follow up with procurement and provide necessary technical services during field installation. Prepare spare parts recommendations for new equipment.
- Providing technical evaluations and advice, solve problems and coordinate technical work as required external organizations.
Qualifications
- 4-year university degree in Engineering (Computer, Electrical, or other relevant discipline)
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience within engineering; specifically Digital Control Computing
- Candidate must be a fully licensed engineer in the province of Ontario, or be eligible to be licensed in the Province of Ontario
- Experience and strength in understanding, executing and following governance and procedures with a questioning and analytical attitude/approach under minimum required supervision.
- Experience and ability as a team player to understand and manage the interrelationships of various internal and external groups in order to facilitate objectives and ensure projects satisfy stakeholder requirements.
