Job Overview
We are seeking a Technical Project Manager (TPM) to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of application development and modernization initiatives within our IT product delivery portfolio.
This role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a solid understanding of IT concepts to effectively oversee timelines, dependencies, and cross-functional collaboration.
The TPM will work closely with multiple squads (currently 2, with plans to scale), vendors, and leadership teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives.
Acting as a trusted partner to senior leadership, this individual will provide portfolio-level reporting, governance, and financial oversight, while driving results across complex initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Execution: Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocations for multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Priority Management: Balance competing priorities and ensure critical projects are delivered on schedule.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate effectively with business, product, and technical teams to align expectations and resolve issues.
- Risk & Issue Management: Identify risks early, implement mitigation strategies, and escalate issues as needed.
- Portfolio-Level Governance: Provide high-level reporting, financial tracking, and oversight of vendor-led projects.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Manage external dependencies and coordinate initiatives across IT teams.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation and provide regular status updates to senior management.
- Process Optimization: Apply best practices in project management and continuously improve delivery processes.
Technical Environment & Delivery Model
- Project Domain: Application development and modernization initiatives.
- Technical Depth: TPM will primarily manage timelines and dependencies; knowledge of APIs, microservices architecture, and Azure is preferred.
- Delivery Model: Agile environment; TPM will focus on portfolio-level reporting, governance, and financials, not day-to-day sprint planning or backlog management.
- Tools & Platforms: Experience with GitHub, MS Project is required; familiarity with Jira, Azure DevOps is an asset.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in IT project management, preferably in enterprise environments.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and enterprise IT systems.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies; experience in hybrid environments is an asset.
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and problem-solving abilities.
Certifications: PMP or Agile certifications preferred.
Domain Experience: Utilities, energy, public sector, or regulated environments are nice to have but not mandatory.
