Job Overview
Immediate support required as Sr Design Engineer (ElecUl&C) for the following projects:
Current Security Modification projects (ElecUl&C):
- 10-89186 (NSSP SB3&4 SECURITY SYSTEMS UPGRADE)
- 10-86044 (NSS-P STORAGE BUILDING 5 SECURITY)
- 10-86437 (NSSD SB3 SECURITY UPGRADES PROJECT)
Non-Security Modification Projects (Electrical/l&C):
- 10-84491 (NSSD-DWMF Storage Building 3)
- 16-80124 (REPLACE EXISTING OBSOLETE CONTROLLERS)
- 16-87135 (CSA Sewage Pump – Surface Mount)
- 10-86144 (NWM WWMF ELECTRICAL POWER SYSTEM UPGRADES)
- Also to support Upcoming/Planned Security & Non-Security related In-House Modification Projects as Sr Design Engineer.
- Perform the duties of Technical Engineer/Officer (Elect/I&C) in Projects Design. Job responsibilities include performing the duties of Design Engineer as associated with Design Engineer Qualification 33685. Including and not limited to – Plant Modifications as per N-PROC-MP-0090, Oversight of contractors as per N-COI-00120-10000, administration of design activities, and any other duties and accountabilities as required by Design Engineer.
- Solve problems, provide advice and guidance, initiate developmental studies, and make recommendations during the design, commissioning, and operation of a nuclear facility; to evaluate components or materials, and to perform economic studies and evaluations associated with the design, commissioning, and operation of a nuclear facility. Requires further experience in the position to become familiar with the work and fully competent.
- Perform detailed design, manage engineering, and design activities of multi-disciplinary projects in our client’s nuclear sites from concept to commissioning in Security related projects (Electrical and l&C).
- Protects the station design basis and adheres to nuclear governance with emphasis on safety as the overriding priority.
Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in the province of Ontario.
- Knowledgeable in our client’s Engineering Change Control process to prepare Design Change Packages such as Modifications. Procurement Engineering support, MEL (Master Equipment List) update, Lead or support conceptual, preliminary, and detail design phases for Security Design Change Packages; Provide support to field installation, commissioning, and available-for-service related activities.
- Prepare security systems design reports, engineering specifications, engineering calculations, technical evaluations, solve problems, and coordinate with the DSP and FE technical work as required.
- Strong working knowledge of Asset Suite AS7/AS9 and familiar with N-PROC-MP-0090 (Modification process) and N-GUID-00700-1ClilOOe to modification process) for Engineering Change Control (ECC).
- In-depth knowledge of security systems such as Access control, detection systems, video surveillance, alarm and signal processing, signal communication, and alarm monitoring systems.
- Working experience as Design Engineer/Design Team Lead to perform in-house design or provide design oversight on the physical protection system for security detection, alarm assessment, and security monitoring systems.
- Good understanding of regulatory needs and address compliance issues, provide senior Management with pertinent information, recommendations when necessary. This includes applicable security and non-security codes and standards used by our client, as well as CNSC Regulatory requirements such as SOR 2000-209 and REGDOC 2.12.1, 2 & 3, REGDOC 2.10.1, and the Design Basis Threat (DBT).
- High level of personal integrity and the ability to professionally handle and maintain security protected documents.
- Valid standard Security clearance and eligible to obtain Level II Security Clearance
